||| FROM HILARY CANTY for ORCAS ISLAND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION |||

OICF is ranked #1 out of 207 community foundations nationally for per capita gifts with a rate of $1,266. While our population size is small, our generosity as a community is enormous. Thanks to the donations of over 800 community members, OICF was able to distribute $5 million in grants during that first year of the pandemic. That represents an annual distribution rate of 29% of OICF assets, which ranked 4th nationally in that survey category as well. You can view the full list by going to https://bit.ly/3r15LRA.

These rankings are a reflection of the tremendous outpouring of community support that ensured neighbors who needed help putting food on the table or keeping a roof over head had access to help through our dedicated local nonprofits. Rides were provided, check-in calls made, food and medicine delivered, PPE distributed, rents and mortgages paid-all thanks to the generosity of this community. While the pandemic certainly has impacted us all, we were able to lessen many of those impacts because we pulled together, pitched in, and helped each other.

The community is now rebounding and those nonprofits that served us so well during the crisis are hard at it still. The upcoming GiveOrcas Community Grants Campaign launches on May 2.

This is on track to be the biggest campaign yet and offers the community the opportunity to make a difference once again. The organizations requesting grants provide the essential services and cultural experiences serving all of Orcas. If you are interested in supporting access to food, affordable housing, the arts, or education, GiveOrcas has options for you!

For those considering contributing appreciated stock, IRA distributions or through a donor advised fund, please contact OICF, 360-376-6423 or info@oicf.us for transfer instructions.
