from Anne Presson, Superintendent (OIHCD)–

The Orcas Island Health Care District (OIHCD) will be hosting two Town Hall meetings in September. The first is being held on Saturday, September 8th from 3 – 5 pm, and the second will be Thursday, September 20th from 6 – 8 pm. Both meetings will be held at the Orcas Island Fire & Rescue, Eastsound Firehall. The Commissioners encourage the community to attend and look forward to it being a very engaging dialogue.

The format will include brief updates on the work the Board has been focusing on since early May. You’ll also hear from the various Committees and Work Groups that have been involved in specific activities related to the transfer of the medical clinic building and equipment from OMF, securing short and long term financing, and establishing a proposal for after-hours care.

While the Commissioners look forward to sharing highlights from the past few months, the bulk of the time will be spent listening to the community. The Commissioners are very interested to listen and learn how people are feeling about health care on Orcas Island, including what areas are working well and where there are opportunities for improvement. The information shared with the Board will help to inform their current and longer term activities and focus.

For additional information or to ask questions, please feel free to contact the District Superintendent, Anne Presson. Superintendent Presson’s contact information, as well as other important information about OIHCD, can be found on the District website: www.orcashealth.org.
