The 2015 Orcas Film Festival has announced awards totallng $7,500 to the following Independent Film Makers:

Lacey Leavitt – “Escape” – Seattle, WA
Cali Bagby – “The Ghost In Red” – Orcas Island, WA
Milla Prince – “The Commute” – Lopez Island, WA

A panel of judges selected the three winning filmmakers who will each receive $2,500 to shoot and edit their film from July 14 – Sept. 7, 2015 when the films must be delivered.

The Orcas Island Film Festival, Orcas Open Arts and Seattle International Film Festival (SIFF) invited filmmakers to explore the San Juan Archipelago and use it as a canvas to create short films that inspire.

The films may be anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes long, in any genre from live action to documentary or even stop-motion and must include 75% of the film’s scenes shot anywhere in San Juan County.

The final three films will be shown online beginning September 14th and during the Orcas Island Film Festival on October 9-12, 2015. Online voting will be available on September 14, 2015.

The final winner will be selected by the audience online and in person at the Orcas Island Film Festival Festival on October 9-12, 2015. This year’s winner will have the honor of being featured in the Seattle International Film Festival in 2016.

An anonymous donor provided the funds for the prize.
