The Orcas Dance Club plans a “Spin the Platter” dance this Friday at their Fall Dance, “Hard Times Hop.”
Event organizer Steve Emmes says, “Given the $1,500-2,000 cost of a band and our desire to keep expenses down, this is a far more economical way to have a dance.
“Lynn Richards is our longtime dance instructor here on Orcas. He has consented to be the DJ and promises to play a wide variety of music. You can look forward to Rock and Roll, Salsa, Tango, Foxtrot, Waltz and whatever else Lynn can put together.”
The Dance will be held at the Orcas Center at “nominal” cost
Emmes says all are welcome, whether or not your “dancing skills are a little rusty. “Lots of us putting on this party feel the same way about ourselves.<
“It’s about having a evening of fun, not winning Dancing with the Stars. Those who have knowledge of some dance steps will be happy to share. This is a wonderful chance to come out and have some fun; meet friends and make some new ones. Come early and join the setup fun.; stay late and enjoy the unwinding.”
The Orcas Dance Club has “no dues, no regular meetings, no officers, just partying people.”
The Spin the Platter Dance will be held Friday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. at Orcas Center. Cost is $15 per couple or $10 singles. All are welcome.
