A group of upperclassmen from Orcas Christian School (OCS) recently had the exciting opportunity to attend University Days at Walla Walla University (WWU) in College Place. The multi-day event, designed to give high school juniors and seniors a taste of college life, drew more than 500 students from across the Pacific Northwest.
The participating students from OCS joined their peers in staying overnight in the university dormitories, experiencing firsthand the rhythm and energy of campus life. Each day was filled with engaging opportunities—students sat in on real college classes, explored various academic departments, and met with professors, advisors and current WWU students.
But University Days wasn’t all academics. The university also planned a full slate of fun games and social activities, from team competitions and evening entertainment to campus tours and themed events. These activities were designed to help students connect, unwind and picture themselves thriving in a college setting.
“It was such a fun experience to see what life at Walla Walla University is really like,” said one OCS student. “Getting to stay in the dorms and meet so many other students from different schools made it feel real—we weren’t just talking about college, we were living it.”
University Days is part of Walla Walla University’s ongoing effort to help high school students make informed, confident decisions about their future education. For the OCS upperclassmen, it was a chance to dream big, ask important questions and start picturing what comes next after high school.
Faculty and the principal from OCS praised the event for its balance of inspiration and information, noting that it helps bridge the gap between high school and college in a tangible, memorable way.
The trip not only gave students a clearer picture of college academics and life—it also created lasting memories and connections that will carry with them as they move toward their future goals.
