Orcas Christian School (OCS) students had an opportunity to experience education through music and collaboration when Walla Walla Valley Academy’s (WWVA) praise band visited Orcas Island on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 5-6.
The two private Christian schools connected through music, giving students an opportunity to learn from one another, experience live performances and share their faith through worship. The WWVA praise band performed for OCS students and families throughout the two-day visit, bringing energy and music into the school community.
The group also held a public performance Friday evening, Nov. 6, at Orcas Island Community Church, extending the musical experience beyond the classroom and giving community members an opportunity to attend.
For Orcas Christian School, the visit was about more than music. It provided students with a chance to engage with peers from another school, experience the work that goes into preparing and performing music, and build connections through a shared activity.
OCS places an emphasis on providing unique opportunities for students to connect with others, an approach reflected in the school’s vision of being community connected.
The school welcomed the opportunity to host WWVA and said the visit was a blessing for its students, families and the broader Orcas Island community.
