Light Up Your Holiday
||| FROM LYNN BAKER for ORCAS CHORAL SOCIETY |||
This holiday season, make a little room in your plans to cheer your spirits and warm your heart with Orcas Choral Society’s winter concert, Ceremony of Carols! Artistic Director Bruce Langford brings his lively, joyful style to a full spectrum of favorite carols, from ancient splendor to modern fun.
The concert begins with Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, arranged for full choir. Drawing on traditional English tunes and traditions, this loved work resounds with ancient stories surrounding Christ’s birth.
“Britten’s Ceremony of Carols takes us to Medieval England to celebrate the mysteries of the season in a way we 21st Century people can access only through music and art,” Langford said. “It brings joy to the spirit and solace for the soul.”
The second half of the concert will have your toes tapping to familiar melodies.
So, to get you in the holiday mood, come to Orcas Choral Society’s 2024 Holiday Concert, December 7 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m. at the Orcas Center. Tickets are available at https://orcascenter.org/event/ocs-ceremony-of-carols/
See you there!
