||| FROM BETHANY MARIE for ORCAS CENTER |||
Locarno is an energetic and enthusiastic mix of Mexican, Cuban, Folk, Funk, and North American music featuring JUNO Award winning musician Tom Landa on jaranas and guitars, Kalissa Landa on violin, Robin Layne on marimba, congas and timbales, Pedro Mota on guitar and vocals, Aaron McKinney on bass, Liam MacDonald on drums, congas and pandero, Mark D’Angelo on trumpet and Nick La Rivere on trombone.
As Michael Juk, CBC producer states, “Locarno’s approach is so genuine and so welcome for audiences who enjoy great song writing, a respect for tradition, a searching musical curiosity, and virtuoso performance skills. Their compelling blend of Mexican, Cuban and North American popular music delivered with exuberant energy is a winning combination.”
