Orcas Center presents “No Time To Waste” + Jaeger & Reid

Orcas Center will present an evening of documentary film and live music on Friday, October 2 at 7 p.m. on Center Stage. The program opens with “No Time To Waste,” a documentary about the late Betty Reid Soskin, the National Park Service ranger who retired from the Park Service at 100 years old.

Soskin died at home at the end of 2025, but her work continues to inspire — including her role in the creation of the Rosie the Riveter World War II Home Front National Historical Park in Richmond, California. Her firsthand perspective on the World War II shipyards has proven both informative and enlightening for those seeking creative responses to the continuing struggles for racial and social equality.

The film shares the evening with a musical presentation by Jaeger & Reid, a duo composed of Soskin’s son, longtime musical activist Bob Reid, and his partner, Judi Jaeger. Bob Reid was part of the extended family of Pete and Toshi Seeger, and was among the performers selected for SeegerFest, a celebration of Pete and Toshi’s lives, as well as for Toshi Seeger’s memorial concert, alongside Judy Collins, Arlo
Guthrie, Natalie Merchant and others.

For the past ten years, Jaeger & Reid have performed for audiences of all ages across the United States and abroad. “From the moment they stepped onstage they had the audience in the palms of their hands and held them spellbound for the entire set,” wrote Rika Ruebsaat, artistic director of the Princeton Traditional Music Festival in Princeton, British Columbia.

“The music of Jaeger & Reid will move and soothe you,” said Patricia and Bruce Benton of Orcas Island. “We have heard them in many different venues and are thrilled they are coming to the Orcas Center. And to have the video about Bob’s mother is just the icing on top!”
