||| FROM COLLEEN SMITH SUMMERS for ORCAS CENTER |||
Come enjoy a night of live music at the Orcas Center with Sturtz and Zan Fiskum. The two acts have toured together in the past, and both groups are led by vocal powerhouses. Sturtz is a folk duo based out of Longmont, Colorado, but they travel to the Pacific Northwest at least once a year to share their music. Fiskum is based out of Maple Valley, Washington, and loves making it out to the islands whenever possible.
Get ready for a night of impressive harmony on Sunday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. on Center Stage.

Fiskum’s music blends folk, soul, and cinematic pop into emotionally vivid storytelling. Known for her commanding vocal range and a diverse sound rooted in the Pacific Northwest, she has built a dedicated following through a series of independent releases that have amassed over a million streams. Fiskum has opened for artists including The Avett Brothers, Kingfish, Mon Rovia and shared the stage with John Legend and Dave Matthews.
With her third album, “American Sparrow,” coming early 2027, Zan returns with a confidence and clarity that brings her voice into sharper focus than ever. Produced by Grammy-winning producer Tyler Chester, the record expands the range and emotional depth of her sound: blending pop, soul, folk, and country into a cinematic, road-worn world of warm textures, brought to life alongside powerhouse collaborators. NPR’s All Songs Considered described Sturtz as “a reassuring breath of fresh air that pulls me back to simpler times.”
The group is serene and folksy, with melodic vocals soaring over the lower string instrumentals. Sturtz released their second studio album Hyacinth in September 2024, and they are hard at work writing songs for their next album now. When they’re not making music, you’ll probably find the members of Sturtz milling flour, gardening, roasting coffee, or honing their photography skills.
