Jim Bredouw

Orcas Center for the Performing Arts has accepted the offer of local musician and philanthropist Jim Bredouw to follow Tom Fiscus as Interim Executive Director at the Center, effective July 16, 2018.  Tom took a sabbatical from his local law practice to step in as Interim Director in March.

Cynthia Abolin, President of the Board says, “We are appreciative of Jim’s willingness to work helping Orcas Center in its evolution. And Orcas Center owes a huge debt of gratitude to Tom Fiscus who heroically stepped up to navigate the transition from Brian Kemp’s directorship to today.”

Fiscus said: “I’m grateful to the Board for its support during my tenure as Interim Director.  It has been a terrific experience to learn the innermost working of the Center, team with its excellent staff and volunteers, and “keep the trains running.”  Thanks also to Jim for stepping in so I can return to something approaching normal life!”

Bredouw, who was one of the first commissioners for the Orcas Park and Recreation District, founded the Funhouse Commons and has been a composer, musical director and performer for numerous shows at Orcas Center, met with the Board on June 28 to offer his services as Interim Director.  Bredouw said, “I think it’s important as a Director to be able to understand both a financial statement and a performer’s experience as well.” In accepting Bredouw’s offer, the Board cited his business experience in operating recording studios in Los Angeles, his consistent support for Orcas Center and his deep connections to Island performing artists.
