Thursday – Friday, May 17 – 18, 6 p.m., Orcas Center
— from Robert Hall for Orcas Center —
“Hand to God” is an adult comedy with hand puppets – and it was the most-produced play in the U.S. in 2014.
There will be auditions for “Hand to God’s” five characters on Thursday May 17 and Friday May 18 at the Black Box at 6 p.m. Call-backs on Sunday May 20 at 1 p.m.
Hand to God is an “irreverent puppet comedy …about a possessed puppet.” Author Robert Askins said that “Hand to God is an expression about honesty. It’s a southern regionalism that’s fairly unknown in the North.” To be performed the first two weekends of July.
Margery is a widow who has taken on the local church puppet club. The teenage members of the club are her son Jason; Jessica, the girl next door that Jason has a crush on; and Timmy, the neighborhood troublemaker whose mother is attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings at the church. At the puppet show performance one of the puppets takes on a life of his own, and expresses secrets that the characters would rather have left unacknowledged.
This very funny Black Box production will be directed by Robert Hall.

Are the auditions for 1 adult female lead and four teenagers?
There are two adult characters: a woman and a man who can range in age 30-55 and three teen characters: one female and two males, who can be played by anyone who can pull off a teen vibe!
The script notes indicate that in many productions the teens have been played by adults, so if it sounds like fun to you, regardless of your age, come and give it a try!
