The Orcas Adventist Fellowship, together with the local community, hosted its fall clothing bank event Nov. 1–2, distributing more than 4,000 pounds of clothes, bedding, and shoes to island residents.
Organizer Dawn Parnell said the event was a highlight for both volunteers and shoppers. “It was so exciting to meet old and new friends and to recycle so many quality items,” she said.
According to organizers, the event drew approximately 600 shoppers, marking the largest turnout in the clothing bank’s history, which dates back to 1994. The event was originally held at the Odd Fellows Hall in town before later moving to the Orcas Christian School gymnasium.
Orcas Adventist Fellowship thanked the community for its help and support and said organizers are already planning for the next event.
