Extreme Winter Weather: Energy Use Alert
|
Extreme winter weather means our heating systems are working harder to keep up. Even if you keep your thermostat the same your system is running more often and for longer periods of time. Your heating system is working to make up the difference between the outdoor and indoor temperatures and the longer the cold spell the harder they have to work and the more electricity you use. You can track how much electricity you are using in our SmartHub app. It’s cold out there – bundle up and watch Pepper’s take on the winter storm:

We’re ready for the storm season. And here it is!
|
The OPALCO team is ready for whatever this weather brings. The crews are patrolling the lines and are ready for any power outages that may occur. Our communications and member services team are prepared to keep members updated on outages. Members can report outages by calling 360.376.3500. Get the latest updates at www.opalco.com/outages.
We encourage everyone to stay off the roads until the storm has fully passed to allow emergency responders and line crews to safely do their jobs. |

I’d like the OPALCO Board to consider keeping the cost per KWH during times like these at the base rate, so that those of us with electric heat (we have heat pumps) might pay only $350 instead of $400 for this month’s electric bill. That would help a lot of locals, I am sure.
