OPAL seeks finance, operations director

OPAL is hiring a new Director of Finance and Operations to step into the shoes of Kim Jaeger, who will retire after the new person is hired. Kim has served as OPAL’s Director of Finance and Administration for the past three years. She successfully oversaw OPAL’s transition to a new fund accounting system and helped the evolution to a more mature accounting department. The only catch? Kim lives in New York State, which is not sustainable for OPAL for the long run. Kim has graciously agreed to stay with OPAL until the right candidate is found. We can be patient to find OPAL’s next right team member.

The Director of Finance and Operations is responsible for overseeing OPAL’s business operations. The position manages a staff of three part-time people, overseeing Finance (processes, controls and reporting), and Operations (internal procedures, information technology, human resources, and compliance with grantors). The DFO leads financial analysis, budgeting, reporting, makes improvements to mitigate risk, determines the most effective blend of out-sourced services with in-house staff and develops cross-trained staff.

This position is year-round full-time based in the Eastsound, WA office. The work schedule is flexible based on maximizing the Finance Team’s productivity and could include up to two days per week work from home.

The annual salary is $125,000 – $135,000 depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement matching, holidays, PTO, sabbatical and other leave options.
