Hang onto your hat, it’s December!!!

Every once in a while, we on Orcas decide that we need to cram a month’s worth of activities into 48 hours. This weekend is one of those times.

There is the Tree Lighting in Eastsound Friday night, followed by Holiday Fairs across the island Saturday and Sunday (at the Legion, the Winery, and Warm Valley Farms). The Lum Farm is open for tree sales and the Montessori school has wreaths for sale around town. The Chorale Society is performing The Messiah at Orcas Center. The Friends of the Library are hosting their Holiday Tea and the Friends of Moran is doing their Annual Swag Making Party (both Saturday). Keep an eye out for Flat Berto. He is making guest appearances all over the island!

Sheesh! If you are not in the Holiday Spirit by Sunday, nothing will get you there.

Add to that, the GiveOrcas Holiday campaign is in Countdown mode. Tuesday is Unique Donor Day, when the organization with the greatest number of unique donors wins a $1000 bonus! (2nd place wins $500 and 3rd gets $250. Just because this is not exciting enough, we also have a matching pool! All donations will be matched 1:1 until we reach $25,000. WOW!!! We hope you will participate!  GIVEORCAS.ORG

If all of this is not your jam, the Vikings Basketball team is having their first game of the season at home at 3:30 Friday at the High School gym. The head coach is none other than OICF Board member Haley Winchell Cruz, and assistant coach is OICF’s Finance Administrator Molly Donovan. Cheering them and the team on is the perfect way to spend a rainy afternoon.

Have a great weekend~
