Tickets still available for Friday night show
By Donna Laslo
The hottest ticket in town and the place to be this summer solstice is at one of the best shows of the season, Martin Lund’s “One World Music Festival.” A jazz-based musical variety show is one of Orcas Center’s most popular summer music events, bringing together Orcas Island’s best musicians and top-notch talent from beyond the islands as well.
Martin Lund, accomplished and skilled musician, composer and arranger has done it again! This year’s show is chocked full of talent featuring the “soul singer extraordinare” Peter Kirkland who will sure to get you singing and dancing. Hank Cramer who is “one of the great folk singers” whose sense of humor is equaled to his deep rich vocals. Jaz Lund who is a young gifted singer & classical guitarist who is taking Seattle concert halls & coffee houses by storm. And our local stars are; Gene Nery, (who had one of his songs recently go platinum); The Orcas Horns, and always some surprises!
With all of this great music there will be magic in the air. The producers decided to take the magic a bit further and choose “music and magic” as this year’s theme. Martin was inspired to choose this theme because of nine-year-old magician Matthew Laslo-White, who often performs magic with Martin and Nery at their Friday night “Pub Night” at the Orcas Hotel.
Young magician Matthew Laslo-White will bring his skills to the big stage for the first time. He will be joined by award winning Seattle magician Aaron Wheeler. Event producer Donna Laslo says, “Magic is going to be sorbet between the meals of music, it’s going to be fun!” The stage will be set up like a magic nightclub.
All this fun and for a great cause too. All proceed generated from this show will go to support the Funhouse, a youth activity & education center. Those who donate $75 or more can sit in a magic nightclub located on stage during the performance! They’re called VIP seating: Very Important Patron. Call The Funhouse at 376-7177 for details
