— from Laura Kussman for Orcas Center —

One performer, six guitar styles. Six Guitars, a performance by Chase Padgett, comes to the Orcas Center on Center Stage Friday, June 29 at 7:30 p.m. He will perform six different guitar-playing characters, each sharing their own style of music, from blues to jazz, rock and classical folk, country and flamenco.

Ranging from a 19-year-old rock prodigy to an 87-year-old blues man, each of Padgett’s characters shares a journey with music from discovery to mastery, through songs and storytelling that take each audience on an entrancing journey. You don’t need to play music to love this show. You just need to love music.

Chase Padgett has been a professional actor and musician for most of his adult life. While going to school at the University of Central Florida he fell in love with improv and performed regularly at the Sak Comedy Lab in Orlando Fl, where Wayne Brady from Who’s Line is it Anyway got his start. After graduating in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music he started working full time acting at Disney and Universal Studios where he played the Grinch, Beetlejuice, and other memorable characters.

In 2010 he premiered his first solo show ‘6 Guitars’ which became one of the most successful shows across the Canadian Fringe Festival circuit in recent years by winning awards and setting box office records. Since then he has toured internationally with his solo works. Chase now resides in Portland, OR, where can regularly be seen at the Curious Comedy Theater as an improviser and musician. In 2016, Chase helped Curious Comedy redesign its lighting, sound, and video capabilities with a $200,000 grant and is excited to use this opportunity to bring his talents to the digital age.
