Friday – Saturday, November 24 – 15 7:30 p.m., Orcas Center

— from Anita Orne for Olga Symphony —

Kicking off the Season of Beloved Traditions, Olga Symphony returns to Orcas Center for two nights of music, fun, and fancy clothes on Thanksgiving weekend, for the 19th year

Olga Symphony, More or Less, runs November 24 and 25 at 7:30 p.m. Why “More or Less” (and why are the ladies wearing more while the gents wear less in their season image.)? Since its founding in 1983, Symphony membership has waxed and waned, but carried on. At the most there were seven. Now there are less – Melinda, Gordon, JP, and Anita.

But they still play all the favorite non-symphonic Olga Symphony works on guitar, bass, fiddle, ukulele, banjo, dobro, saw, shaker, and, of course, voice. And there is more. The Symphony will be joined by three very special guests this year – Orcas Island’s own Pete Seeger Tom Rawson, scintillating singer songwriter Mandy Troxel, and velvet-voiced, uke strumming Mel Urbanozo, from Hawaii by way of Everett. Olga Symphony….more or less!

There will be old favorites. There will be new favorites. There will be good jokes. There will be bad jokes, but you’ll laugh anyway. There will be folks dressed to the nines (we hope you might take this opportunity to brush off your tuxes and gowns and join in the festive fun). And, as always with everything the Symphony has ever done, proceeds from the concert and CD sales will be donated to local charities.

Tickets are still only $5 so bring your family, your friends, your neighbors, strangers you meet in the store. Tickets available now at Orcas Center (www.orcascenter.org or (360) 376-2281. Get them before they are all sold out, because you know you want to be there, and we know we want you there….
