Olga on Orcas, by Susan Mustard

From Barbara Wheeler

Rain or shine, the annual Olga Daze celebration will take place this Saturday, July 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring wonderful food, continuous live music, the world’s shortest parade, gigantic “Barn” sale, fine silent auction, and quilt raffle.

The proceeds from Olga Daze are used to maintain the 99-year-old Olga Community Clubhouse built in 1913.

The Grand Marshals for the parade this year are Jenny Welch and Barbara Wheeler, longtime volunteers in Olga. They will be riding in one of the first cars built in the United States, a 1913 “Woody” which will be driven by owners, Dave and Kitty Baxter of Lieber Haven Resort.

Come early and enjoy Betty Marcum’s famous maple bars, go to the Food Pavilion for Jenny Welch’s mouthwatering baked potatoes, frito chili pie, hot dogs, Italian sausage, lemonade, and strawberry shortcake.

The parade lines up at noon and everyone present is encouraged to join in and march along.

Find wonderful things to take home from the Barn Sale and Silent Auction and buy a lucky ticket to win the beautiful quilt which will be raffled at 2 p.m.

Bring the family and enjoy this fun day in Olga!
