||| FROM LORNA RHODES for OLGA DAZE |||
Olga Daze is coming up this Saturday, July 16. Don’t miss your chance to win this beautiful handmade quilt! Raffle tickets will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, on the Village Green near the Museum. Tickets will also be available at Olga Daze, with drawing at 1:45 (you need not be present to win).
Betty Marcum finished this 80” X 65” quilt using blocks made by her good friend Jeannie Hoffman, a long-time islander who passed away in 2019. The first Olga Daze quilt was made by Judy Slater (Betty Marcum’s sister) and it was won in a raffle by Jeannie Hoffman that year, so it is only fitting that this 2022 quilt be dedicated to Jeannie, who was an Olga resident for many years.
Olga Daze Festivities begin at 10 in Olga Community Park. Enjoy the irresistible and world-famous Maple Bars, the Yard Sale, and music by Carl Burger with the Tow Away Zone. Stop by the History Booth and pick up some farm-fresh Olga veggies while the kids get their faces painted. And, of course—don’t miss the everyone-joins Parade at noon, complete with firetruck! Parking will be available.
Olga Daze is an all-volunteer effort that has supported the historical Olga Community Building for over twenty years.
