And County Communications Program Manager Stan Matthews reports, “With the official start of spring less than two weeks today, County crews were called out to sand slippery roads on Orcas, San Juan, Lopez and Shaw islands Monday morning.
“Public Works Operations Manager Russ Harvey said that as of late afternoon all County Roads were in ‘pretty good shape,’ but he warned drivers to beware of black ice as temperatures dip into the low 20s after dark. Harvey said that road crews will be out to sand icy spots tonight and early tomorrow morning.
“We hope that this is winter’s parting shot,” he said.
Monday’s snow affected almost all roads in the County.
National Weather Service is calling for a low temperature of 20 degrees tonight with conditions it describes as “blustery.” Tomorrow’s high is forecast to be just 35 degrees, with temperatures back in the low 20s tomorrow night.”
