Great Bear Rainforest

Tuesday, May 29 at  7 pm at Eastsound Fire Hall)

Stunning slides, and the first-hand narrative of eco-sailing adventure leader Dave Lutz provide a unique insight into a magical wilderness world of pristine, primeval beauty – B.C.’s Great Bear Rainforest.

Just up the coast from the San Juan Islands, the battle is intensifying to save its rich biodiversity and native cultures from destruction by oil, says Lutz. Its dramatically scenic mountains, islands, and river valleys are home to the rare white Spirit bear, a vast array of other wildlife and plants, and the eight distinct First Nations groups that depend on them.

Those in the audience will  travel deep into the heart of this lush natural treasure, and consider the implications of the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline from the Alberta tar sands, and the associated super tankers navigating these tricky waters. This event is FREE.
