||| FROM KIM KIMPLE for ORCAS ISLAND FIRE AND RESCUE |||
Orcas Island Fire and Rescue crews are currently handling three separate calls, including an overturned commercial truck in the 400-block of Buck Mountain Road with multiple injuries, a critical medical call, and a trauma call.
Air resources are being requested from all three providers for multiple patients simultaneously. Moments like this show the importance of obtaining memberships with all three air resources: Island Air, Airlift Northwest, and LifeFlight Network.
Buck Mountain Road will remain closed while crews work to mitigate hazards. It is expected that one lane will be available later this afternoon. The overturned truck will remain in place until tow is able to attend – likely tomorrow. In the meantime, it is best to use alternate routes for those residing above 460-block of Buck Mountain Road.

It’s at these moments that define us OIFR, it’s nice to know your here, ready and willing! Three Serious Emergent calls all at the same time would tax any Responding Agency. Wether all Paid Staff, Mixed or Volunteer.
Thank you for being here! To all crews, from entry level, through all the experienced individuals.. this includes the Commission.. it takes serious commitment, dedication and a big hart to do the heavy lifting you all do.
Thank You!
Orcas Island residents owe OIFR a Big Thank You for all the work they do, in
difficult and even dangerous situations. They are all skilled, compassionate, and
dedicated individuals, willing to give of themselves to help others.
By the way, we were one of those three emergency calls yesterday !
It didn’t matter, they got the job done.
Thanks again, OIFR.
What is a truck like that doing on Buck Mountain Road.???
