The Orcas Island Film Festival will present 2021 Oscar nominated films, including Best Documentary, Best International Feature and Best Short films in the Animated, Live-Action and Documentary categories — all available to stream — in their virtual cinema.

Now Playing is the Academy Award nominated film for Best Director and Best International Film “Another Round” (Denmark). Acclaimed director Thomas Vinterberg directs this boisterous and sobering comedy about four friends, all high school teachers, who test a theory that they will improve their lives by maintaining a constant inebriated state of consciousness.
Also available is the acclaimed film “Collective” (Romania) nominated for two Academy Awards for best documentary and best international feature. A fast-paced, real-time detective story about truth, accountability, and the value of an independent press in partisan times.
Opening April 2 are the Oscar Nominated Short Films. These powerful shorts will be presented in three separate programs; Animated, Live-Action and Documentary genres that will have five to seven films in each program. You can purchase one program for $12 or all three for $30. One more of the 5 academy award nominated films for Best International Feature will open April 9th.
“The Man Who Sold His Skin” (Tunisia) Sam, a Syrian refugee who agrees to allow his back to be turned into a canvas for a famous tattoo artist and is promptly exhibited in a museum. He soon realizes he may have sold away more than just his skin.
