Friday the 13th was certainly not unlucky for the Farm to Cafeteria Program when a sell-out of 200 people enjoyed a truly memorable evening of food and film organized by Marc Turtletaub and friends.
The Madrona Room at the Orcas Center was transformed into a lovely cocoon of draped sheer fabric with twinkling lights and candles; Charles Dalton of The Kitchen served up a delicious dinner of fresh veggies and chicken with dessert to boot; delightful live music filled the room; New Leaf offered up a full bar; and, to top it off, we all got to see a sweet, funny, clever premier public showing of “Safety Not Guaranteed,” a Sundance Festival winner that Turtletaub co-produced. A rare, opportunity for us, “Safety Not Guaranteed” has only been shown at Sundance and the South by Southwest festivals and will be released nationally on June 8.
Turtletaub’s partner Maureen Curran, her sister Colleen and Andrew Youngren were instrumental in organizing and promoting the evening, and so many people behind the scenes pulled it off perfectly. The net proceeds were contributed by Turtletaub and friends to the Orcas Island Farm to Cafeteria Program.
The Farm to Cafeteria Program is truly honored to be the benefactor of funds raised by this unique event; and, because of its huge success, Turtletaub and friends plans to hold more film screenings to benefit other Island non-profits.

This was a perfect evening–a huge success. It brought so many people to Orcas Center who had the chance to experience once again what a vibrant performing arts center can do for a community. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in making this happen!
