The San Juan County Canvassing Board has certified the results of the November general election in San Juan County. Voter turnout in the county was 89.39% – less than the 91.49% turnout in the 2008 Presidential election, but once again the highest in the State.
County Auditor Milene Henley said that the three significant charter propositions, three Council member elections, a local citizen initiative, and the state referendum on same-sex marriage all helped to turn out the vote. She also suggested that the marijuana initiative may have further encouraged a high voter turnout.
