Nonviolent Communication (NVC) offers powerful, life enriching communication skills that will help you stay calm and compassionate even in the most trying circumstances. The process builds your emotional vocabulary, and provides a framework so you can more clearly communicate your feelings, hopes, and what you want in ways that make it easier for others to hear you. Tension is relieved, and feelings can be expressed with more ease, instead of blame, guilt and shame.
When communicating with NVC, the potential for mutually satisfying outcomes – even in the most difficult of situations – is much greater. Seniors, parents, couples, youth – everyone can benefit from this valuable communication tool.
Rena Patty is a Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, and has been sharing the NVC process with others for 10 years. The class begins on March 14th and continues for six sessions, Monday evenings from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, through April 18th. Fee for the course is $65 and includes all class handouts (partial fee waivers are available, call 376-6864). Register at the Senior Center, 376-2677.
