Perry Burrus III, MD, FACS

Perry Burrus III, MD, FACS, joined Island Wound Care & Hyperbaric Medicine at the end of October bringing 28 years of experience to the department. Board certified, Burrus earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Medical College of Georgia and completed both his surgery internship and general surgery residency there as well. His most recent work was in Greenville, South Carolina practicing wound care at St. Francis Eastside.

Burrus recognizes the importance of wound care and says the physician/patient relationship is vital to that care.

“Patients should have confidence that their physician is providing the best quality of care through a collaboration between the two. They should have the opportunity to make informed decisions about every aspect of the care they receive,” Burrus said.

Burrus joins the Island Wound Care team, using state-of-the-art techniques, including hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

In addition to wound care and wound prevention, Burrus has a special interest in the effects of nutrition and exercise on outcomes.

Island Health CEO Elise Cutter, MBA, welcomes Burrus to the organization.

“We are excited to have Dr. Burrus join our Wound Care team. It’s such a crucial part of healthcare that offers impressive results with customized treatment plans,” Cutter said.

Burrus moved to Anacortes with his wife and two (of four) children from Beaufort, South Carolina. His other two grown children still live in South Carolina. The family loves boating and traveling, and they have enjoyed exploring the Pacific Northwest.
