Midweek Market will premiere tomorrow, July 22, from 2 to 6 p.m behind Orcas Online on Prune Alley, to offer Orcas-made products, food and art.
The regular Wednesday market is a collaboration of local vendors such as Carol Anderson’s Magic Islands, selling body sprays, soaps and beaded jewelry, Robin Duis, creating tile necklaces and scarves and Gypsy Willow Catering, with Mellonie Eckersonn preparing outdoor food items such as grilled pizzas and Cornish game hens.
The Midweek Market will also feature local artists, beginning with painter Michelle DeLong. Artists and other vendors who are interested in appearing at the market are asked to call Eckerson at 376 3881.
Booth space is available for $5.
Eckerson says “We’re striving for an affordable venue for beauty taste and creativity. By offering a more reasonable price, the better it is for everybody, where we can sell things we normally couldn’t afford to market.”
Eckerson also welcomes those whose art is more “cutting edge” or controversial, such as a grafitti style with classic Picasso overtones, or Monet-style art on tennis shoes — “Art that isn’t always appreciated, If someone has a more graphic portfolio, we only require they have ’18 year or older’ on the outside.
“We are very excited to offer o the community this event t that endeavors to support and encourage sustainability and creative expression,” says Eckerson.
“Please join us for what we hope is our bit of ‘Orcas Flare off the Square!'”
