— from San Juan County Communications —
The Joyce L. Sobel (San Juan Island) Family Resource Center and the Economic Development Council are working with Abby Anderson, AmeriCorps VISTA, to offer a five-week financial skills course. This course will guide participants through financial topics such as spending habits, creating a budget, saving for assets, emergency planning, credit and debt, preparing for retirement, and much more. On the last day of the session, participants will have the opportunity to discuss any topic in greater detail, or to have their questions answered about a specific financial situation they are experiencing.
The five-week course runs on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. from September 19 through October 17 at the Heritage Bank Meeting Room, 535 Market St. Suite A.
This course is free and open to all, but spots are limited. There will be refreshments provided during each session, as well as free childcare for children ages 4 and older at the Family Resource Center. Advanced registration is required by September 13th. Registration is online. If you are in need of a printable registration form, stop by any of the sponsoring organizations.
