Your tech levy dollars at work

||| FROM BLAKE WILSON for ORCAS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT |||

Orcas Island School District recently launched “phase one” of a three phase project and began installing our new security door locking system. You may have noticed electricians working on exterior doors at the Elementary, Middle School, Montessori and Administration buildings.

Phase one, phase two (High School) and phase three (Library/Cafeteria, Old Gym, and Music) are part of a 3-year project funded, in large, by the recently passed Tech Levy.

Notable features of this new door locking system include: easier administration and control of user access, remote programming options, and the ability to quickly secure our buildings in the event of a lockdown or other emergency.

Please be mindful that doors will be closed and locked as an added security measure.

Please contact Larry Metcalf, OISD Director of Operations, should you have any questions about security or our door locking systems. OISD is very committed to keeping our district safe and secure for students, staff and visitors.
