Don Giovanni

The Met presents Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart streaming Live in HD at Orcas Center Sunday, November 13 at 1:00 pm. If you’ve not yet experienced the Metropolitan Opera streamed from New York City to Orcas Center this is your opportunity to experience an epic production where charismatic baritone Simon Keenlyside plays the title hero, opera’s ultimate cad, who goes to hell in a dazzling coup de théâtre. The ensemble of great Mozartean singers breathes divine enthusiasm into this timeless drama.

Simon Keenlyside makes his Met role debut as the unrepentant seducer in Tony Award winner Michael Grandage’s staging of Mozart’s masterpiece. Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi leads a cast that includes Hibla Gerzmava as Donna Anna, Malin Byström as Donna Elvira, Serena Malfi as Zerlina, Adam Plachetka as Leporello, Matthew Rose as Masetto, Kwangchul Youn as the Commendatore, and Paul Appleby as Don Ottavio.

“The best news is that the much-loved British baritone Simon Keenlyside…was back, lithe and physically deft, in the title role.” —The Guardian

“The production can serve as a platform for excellent singing, and that was supplied here by a strong group of women: the warm-toned Russian Hibla Gerzmava as Donna Anna, the lyrically flighty Swede Malin Byström as Donna Elvira, and the appealingly earthy Italian Serena Malfi as Zerlina.” —New York Times

“A winning cast sparks joy in Don Giovanni revival at the Met…a delightful performance that reminded us of the genius of Mozart’s music that could bring revelation and excitement in the hands of professionals.” —Bachtrack
