The San Juan Islands Conservation District is pleased to announce the appointment of Linda Lyshall as our new District Manager. Dr. Lyshall was the unanimous choice of the Board of Supervisors as the most qualified candidate to lead the district’s stewardship programs.
Linda comes to the district from San Juan County where she served as Marine Programs Coordinator. Previously, Linda was an Ecosystem Recovery Coordinator and Liaison with the Puget Sound Partnership and with the Puget Sound Action Team in the Office of the Governor. She also served as a Senior Environmental Planner with Snohomish County prior to state government employment. Her educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, with a focus on Ecology and Conservation from the University of Washington; a Master’s degree in Environmental Policy and Natural Resource Management from the Evans School of Public Affairs at the University of Washington; and a PhD in Leadership and Change, with a focus on Environmental Sustainability from Antioch University.
Promoting the conservation of natural resources in the San Juan Islands since 1947, the district’s mission is to work with landowners and residents to develop sustainable land use practices that protect and conserve San Juan County’s soil and water for habitat, forestry, farming, residential and other uses.
