||| FROM ALICIA WIGFIELD for NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR SHELTER |||
Neighbor to Neighbor Shelter opens November 8, and we’re looking for volunteers to help welcome and support our neighbors. There are lots of ways to pitch in—whether you can take a shift, help with laundry, or make a meal.
Morning | 6:30–9:00 a.m.
Help with breakfast, cleanup, and getting the shelter ready for the day.
Mid shift | Dusk–7:00 p.m.
Support guests and help with daily tasks.
Overnight | 7:00 p.m.–9:00 a.m.
Help provide a safe, welcoming presence and support guests as needed.
Laundry
Wash, dry, fold, and organize linens.
Meals
Prepare meals to serve fresh or freeze for days when hot meals aren’t available. If you need help buying ingredients, please reach out.
No certifications are needed for laundry or meal-only roles. Volunteers who support guests need CPR, Narcan, and food handler certifications. We can help with resources and funding if you need to get certified. Already certified? Great!
Volunteer stipends are available to recognize your time and commitment.
Want to help, or have questions? Contact Alicia by call or text at **360-821-3415**, email **alicia@orcasisland.org**, or send a message through Facebook Messenger.
We’d love to have you be part of this community effort.
