Navy Region Northwest installations will be participating in a four day multi-state exercise beginning Tuesday.
Cascadia Rising is an emergency preparedness exercise that encompasses all aspects of emergency response and will bring together multiple states (Oregon, Washington, Idaho), and FEMA to prepare for a mega 9.0+ earthquake, to include a mix of real-world actions and notional activities.
During the exercise, the community around Naval Base Kitsap could see an increase of aircraft overflights, see smoke and hear simulated explosions.
The Navy will be working with their County Emergency Management partners during the exercise.
