Turning the Wheel has been selected by the Orcas Island Community Foundation to participate in the Orcas Gives campaign this year! We are thrilled to be included among many worthwhile non-profits doing amazing work. As visiting artists many residents may not know about our organization so here is a brief introduction:

We were invited to Orcas by Alyssa Burnett, an island resident, and Turning the Wheel certified facilitator, who has brought Turning the Wheel practices into her life and work. She invited our national team of facilitators to visit in April. We found great partnerships through her colleagues and contacts and are grateful to have spent the week getting to know the residents through the children we worked with, their teachers and parents. We had such a rich experience and look forward to returning to deepen those relationships and build new ones.

Turning the Wheel, based in Boulder, CO and serving all ages and abilities for over 30 years nationally, will return to Orcas Island to offer our unique week-long autobiographical performance residencies to area youth! Turning the Wheel programs utilize play, movement, theater, song, rhythm, art and writing to build the life skills of collaboration, connection, self-esteem, personal agency, leadership, and accountability.

At the end of the week, programs culminate with a performance created by the students, who are witnessed in new ways by their community.
