–from Michael Gerard, Singer/Songwriter for The Moonshine —

get+on+the+moonshine+bus_edited_hiHailing from Portland, Oregon, The Moonshine began crafting a style all their own in the winter of 2012, applying traditional stringband techniques to an eclectic palette of influences and the unconventional songwriting of Michael Gerard Levasseur. In support of their debut release, “And Now… The Moonshine,” the band has been touring all over the West Coast, Cascadia and out to The Rocky Mountains.

The tide of momentum surrounding the release and tour has carried the album into a second printing amongst invitations to play festivals, record the soundtrack to a full length film and to move into the the tour bus for life!

Taking the magic of the five piece stringband as their foundation and journeying through the wilds of all music that has shaped them, The Moonshine is original and dynamic. With deep roots into Americana, Rock, Oldtime, Gypsy and Cajun traditions, this music is an adventure!

“…some of the most engaging, energetic, and original material you’re likely to hear for quite some time… flies by in a whirlwind of incredibly smart instrumentation, songwriting, and melody.” –Steven Spoerl, PopMatters
