Montessori – Spring – Gardening – Fundraiser

What do all these words have in common? The answer is – support for pre-school education on Orcas Island. As a Spring Fundraiser the Orcas Montessori School is offering for the first time a selection of thirteen summer-blooming bulbs and perennials to encourage your summer garden planning. The prices are terrific and the quality is excellent. The Montessori Community encourages you to enhance your own gardens, and all of Orcas Island, by planting flowering bulbs for summer bloom. Consider lilies. Contemplate gladiolas. Dream about dahlias.

For each purchase of bulbs/perennials The van Bourgendien Bulb Nursery is allowing us to retain 50% of the sale price as a fund-raiser. The School’s Orchard General Fund will benefit, assisting the Board in supporting the building, our teachers, and the Montessori pre-school program here on Orcas Island. With all the state and federal funding cuts being considered for education, pre-schools will have to work especially hard to fund much-needed education for Orcas children.

Photos of the thirteen plants available for purchase can be seen on the Montessori web site at https://www.orcasmontessori.org/bulb-sale. You may order at the same web site using Pay Pal. If you prefer, you can contact the Montessori School Director, Teresa Chocano, 376-5350, to place an order. There are also brochures with flower photos and payment envelopes at the Montessori School. Or contact a Montessori parent to take your order. The deadline is April 21.

The bulbs will arrive about May 15 in planting time for blooms this summer. We will contact you to pick yours up at the Orcas Montessori School, 1147 North Beach Rd., Eastsound.

The Orcas Montessori School Community thanks you in advance for supporting pre-school education on Orcas Island and for planting more flowers.
