Montessori School suffered water damage when a water heater failed a week ago Friday, and they have relocated to Benson Hall while the floor in the school on North Beach Road is being replaced. The damaged floor and underlayment has been taken up and a new floor will be installed next weekend.

School has continued without a break. With the help of school parents, Montessori moved last weekend and set up at Benson Hall, adjoining Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Eastsound.

Director Theresa Chocano said, “Unfortunately, because of state regulations concerning using a temporary space, we have had to shorten our day until we return to our building, requiring our parents to be resourceful in working out alternative arrangements and helping each other out. We are grateful to Kaleidoscope for their help. We hope to move back sometime during the week after Thanksgiving.”

“The children are doing very well with the transition to our temporary home. They are enjoying the novelty of the new space.  It is a lovely space and we are fortunate that the room is available for us to rent during the days we are displaced.  Nonetheless we are all eager to get back to our school building.

“We consider ourselves fortunate because without insurance, this would be a devastating experience. Of course there are some expenses that will not be covered. Community members who would like to help are encouraged to call the school and see how they can help.”
Montessori school can be reached at 376-5350.
