The missing person has been found. He is home and comfortably resting with family. Thank you to everyone who made that possible.
More than 30 community members joined Wednesday morning’s search. Their willingness to show up was a huge outpouring of support. Thank you community responders!
Thank you to the three search dog teams: one from Whatcom County and two from Skagit County. Thank you to the Whatcom County Sheriff’s SAR team, and to emergency responders from San Juan Island and Lopez Island. Thank you to the Orcas Island School District for use of the school vans. And thank you to the Washington State Ferries for accommodating responders for priority loading.
Four air asset agencies took part in this effort: AirliftNW, King County Sheriff’s Office SAR, Border Patrol Air and Marine, and the U.S. Navy.
This was a local, county, regional, and federal effort — 19 hours of many agencies and unaffiliated individuals working together toward a successful outcome.
OIFR shares a special partnership with the San Juan County Sheriff’s Office. That relationship made it possible to bring so many people together so quickly. Thank you to SJCSO for their coordination and leadership throughout.
