— from Cathy Ferran for Orcas Island School District —
[Orcas Island School District is] in the process of spotlighting [the] most recent hires in preparation for the new school year. On board now as the OASIS Office Manager is a familiar face in the community – Mindy Kayl. Kayl has been an Orcas “local” for over 25 years.
As a substitute in our district for the last five of them, she has gotten to know the district well. She was in the classrooms assisting teachers; often filled in at the elementary front office and helped supervise lunch and recess.
Kayl also operates a small farm in Crow Valley. She likes gardening and walking her two dogs and a donkey – yes, you read that right – a donkey named Sweetie. Kayl is committed to our local community and looks forward to serving the school district and the OASIS students.
Welcome, Mindy.
