Sunday, Nov. 22 at noon to 2 p.m. at Orcas Center
— from Jake Perrine —
“The course of true love never did run smooth!”
Local director/teacher Jake Perrine (Butterfly Effect, Christmas Carol, Moulin Rouge, Across the Universe) will be auditioning adult men and women on NOVEMBER 22nd in the Black Box at Orcas Center from noon to 2 p.m. for a production of Shakespeare’s “Midsummer Night’s Dream” playing at Orcas Center in April 2016 for the Shakespeare Festival.
The bulk of the roles will be played by Jake’s high school theatre class, who have already begun working diligently with the text. The remaining adult roles being auditioned for are Theseus, Hipolyta, Egeus, Oberon, and Titania. Please note: we will consider men or women for any of these roles.
While utilizing Shakespeare’s exquisite text of yore, this production will be set in modern times, and will explore the play’s themes for a modern audience. Expect the unexpected!
To audition, please contact the director at jake@jakeperrine.com to set up a time on November 22nd. You will be asked to prepare 10-12 lines of one of the available parts for your audition. While previous experience with acting Shakespeare is helpful, it is not required. Jake will work with you to explore and embody the text.
Rehearsals will begin in January 2016. It would be helpful for those cast to have a somewhat flexible schedule, as there will be some morning rehearsals during our high school class time, and some evening rehearsals, but we will work with your availability as best as we can.
