||| FROM ORCAS ISLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT |||
Becca Parish will be supporting multilingual students by working with their families and the school district to “continue to deepen and expand trusting relationships with each other.”
This will happen through a variety of ways including “helping to communicate effectively between school and families; supporting teachers in connecting with families; learning about the shifting needs of our multilingual community in regard to school and helping to meet those needs; also learning about the shifting needs of our teachers, effectively working with multilingual students and helping to support those needs; helping to design training programs for staff; and many other things that will come up as the year progresses.
What inspires Becca: Becoming a Mom and the joy that comes from working with people to make our community a place where youth can be themselves and feel hopeful about their own lives.

Having this resource available for our community’s multilingual students and their families is a great way to help the students thrive in the school environment and assist non-English-speaking parents in becoming comfortable getting more involved in their children’s education and activities. Becca is the perfect person to lead the program!
