Bianca Cox, Orcas School paraeducator

Early on in life Bianca Cox aspired to be a ballerina/marine biologist. She is still pursuing her love of ballet as a dancer with the Orcas Dance Collective. Other hobbies include rock collecting, crafting, and reading.

Bianca loved school and learning. She describes herself in grade school as “incredibly shy and quiet,” yet she always felt supported and encouraged by her teachers. Her favorite college memories are of field work discoveries and wildlife encounters while studying streams and rivers. She also had the benefit of “some amazing, creative, and passionate science teachers. Her favorite college memories are of field work discoveries and wildlife encounters while studying streams and rivers. She also had the benefit of “some amazing, creative, and passionate science teachers.” In high school, her marine science teacher showed up in class wearing a kelp holdfast on her head and taught the class while wearing it the entire time! “Learning was always fun with Ms. Carter.”

Bianca cares for two pets: Little Old Lady Cat Pele, and adoptee dog Scully. She values the “caring and supportive community and the opportunities to get involved” here on Orcas Island.

…and her favorite ice cream is Rocky Road.
