The San Juan County Public Works Department will be repairing and chip seal resurfacing roads in Eastsound during the month of May. Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions to traffic and parking during the project, but there will be some delays and detours while work is in progress.

Here’s what residents need to know:

The first phase of work will be road patching on sections of A Street, North Beach Road, and Main Street. Work may occur on weekdays between May 1st and May 16th during the hours of 7 am to 6 pm.

Starting May 19th and running to the end of May, the County will resurface the majority of roads in Eastsound. This will occur primarily from Monday to Thursday from 6:30 am to 5:30 pm, with some occasional Friday work.

Signs and instructions will be posted around the specific work areas during the project. Public Works will place a high priority on maintaining access to businesses. No work will be performed and traffic will not be impacted during the busy Memorial Day Weekend.

The County roads division asks motorists to reduce their speed and watch for workers and other traffic while driving though affected areas. There will be loose gravel placed for 2-3 days on specific sections of roadway, so cyclists of all kinds should be very careful until County road crews can sweep the rock up.
