Saturday, November 26, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Salmonberry School
— from Sharon Ho —
In the coming week, more than a few homes on Orcas Island will be a frenzy of craft and art making as local young artisans ready their wares for the annual Children’s Christmas Market. For the fourth year running, it will be held on the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., at Salmonberry School. Located on Henry Road, the Children’s Market will be across the street from the Senior Center Holiday Festival that will be taking place that same Saturday.
If you are looking for handmade, local and affordable, this is the spot. These brave young creative souls set out only original, handmade, and very often, naturally crafted items priced from 25 cents to $5. There are greeting cards, hand carved toys, felted and knitted wares, beach glass art, salvaged art, baked goods and surprises every year.
Spaces are still available and open to any Orcas Island kid from the ages of 5 to 18. A $5 fee gets you a small table (a school desk, about 1.5 ft x 2 ft) and a chair to display and sell your wares.
Please contact Rachel Bishop at 376-5003 to reserve a table by November 23.
