The San Juan County Marine Resources Committee (MRC) issued a Request for Proposals for  Feeder Bluff Mapping throughout county islands on Aug. 13.

The MRC will receive statements of qualifications and proposals from qualified contractors to map and provide analysis of erosional bluffs and accretion shore forms along several miles of shoreline in San Juan County. The deadline for proposals is 4 PM on September 7, 2009.  The complete Request for Proposals is available on the MRC website (www.sjcmrc.org ) or by contacting the MRC at 370-7592.

The proposal is one of several items the MRC will discuss at its bi-monthly meeting on  Wednesday, Aug. 19 at Islanders Bank in Friday Harbor.

The meeting, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.,  will hear a report from the NW Straits Commission, consider the scoring/final ranking of salmon project proposals, and take public input.

The MRC will also hear the San Juan Initiative (SJI) recommendations and Critical Areas Ordinance (CAO) outreach, and a request for MRC funds from Amy Windrope, SJI Coordinator.

Jeff Hansen will make a presentation about the County Fair  and ECO-Net — a program for local educators to plug into the Puget Sound Partnership’s regional outreach campaign.

Mary Knackstedt, MRC Coordinator will report on the feeder bluff mapping project.

Citizen input will then be taken.

The next MRC meeting is Sept. 2. Sub-committee meetings will be held in the interim. For more information, the MRC website is www.sjcmrc.org.
