— from Marcia Spees —

I want to let you know that I am one of the featured artists at the Orcas Island Public Library for the month of May.

This is the first time in a decade that I’ve had the opportunity to exhibit a fairly healthy body of work in one place, and I am quite pleased with the resulting display. All but one of the eleven paintings are watercolors, with most of them having been executed in the last two years. Keen viewers will detect a progression of technique and push to experiment and expand the boundaries of my previous work. Really – I’m pretty much all over the map!

The exhibit is in the ‘Quiet Reading’ area of the Library. Right around the corner, across from the main desk, are the stunning celebrity drawings by my fellow exhibitor, Mick Stevens. I think you will agree that our works complement each other nicely.

I can’t praise enough the support and encouragement of the Library and Visual Arts Committee in making this opportunity possible – particularly Dave Kosiur and Margaret Payne – Thank you! It’s so gratifying to have this beautiful community space available for island artists.

No formal reception is planned for this show, so as far as I’m concerned, the viewership is subject to the whims of chance and remembrance.

But I do invite you, when you have a moment, to drop by the Library in the beautiful, merry, merry month of May and take a look.

And, if you are so inclined, please let me know what you think.
