John Steward and farming interns of Maple Rock Farm were kept busy all day Saturday, April 25, as visitors came in changeable weather to the farm on Pneeo Road.
Visitors were able to purchase plant starts and get advice on planintg condand growing conditions from Maple Rock Farm staff. In addition, make-your-own pizzas, pumpking bread and scone were available for purchase.
Steward was “pleasantly surprised at how many people came — all day long. Because of the economy and other factors, people are now more intersted in home gardening.
Maple Rock Farm is operated with the assistance of interns, who generally change every year, Steward says, although some will stay for a second or third year, as is the case this year.
